MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AND EUROPEAN AFFAIRS, DEFENCE, DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION AND FOREIGN TRADE

The Directorate for Foreign Trade and Investment Promotion of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade fosters bilateral economic relations and increases Luxembourg's visibility on foreign markets.

The Directorate assists Luxembourg-based companies in their internationalisation efforts and promotes Luxembourg as an ideal location for the attraction of investments, technologies and talents. It coordinates and carries out its international activities through a network of nine Luxembourg Trade and Investment Offices located in Abu Dhabi, Casablanca, New York, San Francisco, Seoul, Shanghai Taipei, Tel Aviv and Tokyo, as well as its trade and investment attachés in Ankara, Brasilia, and New Delhi.

Moreover, the Directorate plans and carries out economic missions and the Minister’s working visits abroad in close collaboration with an array of partners both at national and international level. It acts as a coordination platform among stakeholders involved in trade and investment activities.

It also includes the International Trade Fairs department supporting companies by offering them access to national pavilions at major international trade events.

Finally, the Office for Export, Import and Transit Controls is responsible for the implementation and application of the regime governing imports, exports and transit of strategic and sensitive goods and their related technologies as well as certain goods of civilian nature.
